These terms
These terms are the supplier agreement for Readlet, made by CoderNoel. They cover the web app, the Chrome extension, Readlet Companion, and the Mac and Windows apps. The privacy policy explains what stays on your device and what optional features can send.
By installing or using Readlet, you agree to these terms. If you buy Readlet Plus, you also agree to Polar’s Buyer Terms for that transaction. Polar sells Plus to you as merchant of record; CoderNoel licenses the software.
Using Readlet
CoderNoel grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Readlet on computers you own or control. The complete reader is free and remains free under these terms. That includes opening, reading, search, OCR, ordinary annotations, ordinary form filling, typed or drawn signatures, page tools and export.
You may not rent, sell or redistribute the apps, remove notices, or attempt to circumvent Plus access, except where the law where you live does not allow that restriction. You keep the documents you open and the work you make in them. Readlet does not claim those.
Readlet is provided as-is. Care is taken with it, but it is not promised to be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular job. To the extent the law allows, CoderNoel is not liable for lost documents, lost profits, or indirect damages. Nothing here limits rights you cannot give up where you live.
Readlet Plus
Plus is for the tools that go beyond reading: Readlet AI, adding new text to a PDF, assisted form understanding, and advanced signature capture. It is a one-time purchase of US$9.99. It is not a subscription. A purchase keeps the Plus tools you bought; it is not a promise of every future major generation.
Polar Software, Inc. is the merchant of record. Checkout, tax, receipts and payment processing happen on Polar’s hosted checkout. Polar emails a licence key. You enter that key on each new installation you want to activate. The benefit allows three activations; you can deactivate an old computer from Polar’s customer portal before activating another.
After a successful activation, Plus works on that installation without a standing internet check. The 60-day trial, and one later five-day extension, are card-free and stored on your device. They start only when you choose a Plus tool and confirm. Reading is never interrupted when a trial ends, and work you already made remains yours to view and export.
Refunds
If Readlet Plus is not useful to you, write to contact@codernoel.com. Refunds of the purchase price are processed through Polar, not by sending money separately. Polar may also act under its Buyer Terms and under the law where you live, including any cooling-off rights that apply to digital purchases.
A refunded or disabled licence cannot activate another installation. An installation that was already activated and stays offline is not remotely revoked. Chargebacks are handled by Polar as the seller of the transaction; contact Polar or your card issuer if you need to dispute a charge you do not recognise.
Readlet AI
AI is optional and part of Readlet Plus. It does not run because a sidebar is visible. When you ask a cloud model for help, the prompt and the document context needed for that request are sent to the provider you selected. ChatGPT uses the OpenAI account you connect; OpenAI’s terms apply to that processing. Supported on-device models on Mac keep inference on the device after any required download.
You are responsible for the documents you open and for what you ask the agent to do with them. Do not use Readlet AI on material you are not allowed to share with the chosen provider, and do not use it to break the law. Outputs can be wrong; check them before you rely on them or export them.
Acceptable use
Use Readlet only with files you have a right to open. Do not probe, disrupt or overload the update, checkout or companion services, or use Readlet to distribute malware. Desktop updates are signed; do not sidestep those signatures. If these terms are broken, access to Plus or to companion features may be withdrawn. The free reader on your device is not remotely disabled.
Changes
These terms may change as the product changes. The date above will move when they do. For a change that affects a Plus purchase you already made, the tools you paid for stay available on the installations you activated. Continued use of Readlet after a change means you accept the updated terms.
